HISTORY
The Astin Mansion was built in 1924 by Roger and Nina Astin. The Mansion has since been listed on the National Register of Historic Places due to its architecture and historical importance. The Astin’s were a very prestigious family and were very generous within the surrounding community. Mrs. Astin outlived both her husband and children, but remained very involved in the community and maintained her interest in different charities and organizations. She did not have any heirs, so she donated the Mansion to the community by creating the Nina Heard Astin and Nina Bess Astin charitable trust. The trust is still very supportive of many charities, organizations and scholarships in the Bryan/College Station area. The Mansion was purchased as a Special Events Venue in 2004 and has since grown to become very popular within the community. The Mansion has been voted “Best Wedding Venue” by The Knot Magazine, has won many awards for floral as well as receiving numerous recommendations from previous clients and companies. The Mansion itself has eight rooms, a laundry room, five bathrooms, a dressing room, seven fireplaces, and two sitting rooms. In addition, there is a small replica of the mansion in the rear of the house that was used as a playhouse for the children, and a carriage house which served as the maid’s quarters as well as a garage.
